Dr Mathews Phosa
Dr Mathews Phosa is a prominent attorney and politician. He qualified with a Bachelor of Law degree and Baccalaureus Procurationis from the University of the North. He also holds an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree from Boston University, USA. Dr Phosa established the first black owned law practice in Nelspruit in 1981 and was appointed as the first Premier of Mpumalanga in 1994. He is a prolific author who speaks nine languages and has two anthologies in Afrikaans poetry to his name under the title “Deur die oog van ‘n naald”, some of which have been prescribed for the matric syllabus. Dr Phosa was the only recipient to receive two awards at the African Achievers Awards in Nigeria in 2016: the Leadership Excellence in Africa Award and the Lifetime Achiever Award. He was the first man ever to receive an award at the African Woman In Leadership Organisation Conference in Washington DC in 2016, namely the “African Man of the Year” Award in recognition of his effort in showcasing and supporting the creativity of African women.

Chris du Toit
Chris du Toit het in 1968 sy landboukwalifikasie aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch behaal met Vrugteteelt, Wynbou en Landbouekonomie as hoofvakke. In 1969 begin hy in die Paarl boer en word in 1970 tot die bestuur van die Paarlse Boerevereniging verkies. Hy dien tot in 1979 as tesourier, sekretaris en vise-voorsitter waarna hy as voorsitter verkies word. In 1980 word hy verkies as voorsitter van die Bergrivier Boere-unie en in 1981 word hy verkies op die bestuur van die Wes-Kaapse Landbou-unie. Hy word in 1990 as President van die Wes-Kaapse Landbou-unie verkies. Van 1995 – 2000 dien hy as President van die SA Landbou-unie (vandag Agri SA). Van 1999 tot 2016 was hy ook ‘n trustee van die Agri Securitas Trustfonds. Chris was ook ‘n lid van die werkloosheidsversekeringsraad, lid van die Nasionale Mannekrag-kommissie en lid van die Bemarkingsbeleid Evalueringskomitee vir die hersiening van die Bemarkingswet. Chris is ‘n ere-President van Agri Wes-Kaap en tans die voorsitter van Boland Kelder.

Prof Stephanie Midgley
Prof Stephanie Midgley has been a researcher, research consultant and project manager for 26 years in agriculture, food security and climate change. She holds a PhD in Botany and an M.ScAgric in Horticultural Science. In her academic research, Stephanie has studied the impact of the environment on plant physiology and production, and particularly on crop physiology, fruit production technologies and fruit quality management. During 2009 – 2013, she worked in the private sector and developed expertise in food security, sustainable agriculture and natural resources management, agricultural policy, and the challenge of climate change. Some of the projects she has led or contributed to, include the Western Cape Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan, a Lesotho agricultural climate change adaptation project, the Regional Climate Change Programme for Southern Africa, and the recently completed climate change response framework and implementation plan for the agricultural sector in the Western Cape. Prof Midgley is currently associated with the Agri Sciences Faculty at Stellenbosch University and also works as an independent research consultant.

Elsabe Aldrich
Elsabe Aldrich het haar B.Drama-graad en ‘n HOD-diploma aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch verwerf. Haar man se diplomatieke loopbaan het hulle tusen 1979 en 1995 na Londen, New York, Windhoek en Washington DC geneem. Elsabe het in 1999 voltyds as motiveringskonsultant begin optree. Sy is die skrywer van sewe boeke en het vyf CD’s en ‘n DVD op die mark. Haar jongste boek, So Sappig wat in 2013 verskyn het, is tans in sy derde druk. Sy het ‘n passie vir persoonlike oorwinning, woema en die fyn kuns om goeie verhoudings te handhaaf. Sy laat haar gehore lag en leer tegelykertyd, want sy geniet dit om wenke uit die suksesliteratuur en Boere-wysheid op haar guitige manier te deel. Met hul terugkoms na Suid-Afrika het hulle op ‘n kleinhoewe in die Wes-Kaap met grenadellas, skape, Staffies en kinders geboer. Hierdie ervaring het hulle ‘n heilige ontsag vir die kaliber mens gegee wat dié besondere uitdaging te midde van peste en droogtes kan deursien. Sy en haar man is deesdae Overbergers en woon op Hermanus.
